What this directory is

Ontario Plumber Directory is an independent directory and comparison resource covering 300 plumbing businesses across Ontario, with concentrated coverage in Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, Hamilton and Brampton. It’s built for homeowners and property managers who need to find a licensed plumber for something specific: an emergency callout, a water heater swap, drain or sewer cleaning, leak detection, gas fitting, or a bathroom or kitchen plumbing job, and want a quick, honest way to compare who actually does good work locally.

We also generate enquiries for local providers. When you ask to be matched with someone, we pass your enquiry to providers relevant to your request and may receive a referral fee for doing so. That referral relationship is disclosed on the quote page and never touches how a business is scored or ranked. The directory side and the enquiry side are kept apart on purpose.

Where the listings come from

Each listing starts from public business information (name, address, service area, licensing details where available) combined with a synthesis of recent Google reviews. We don’t republish review text or copy star ratings wholesale. Instead, we read the pattern of recent feedback and summarise what it says about response times, workmanship, pricing fairness and communication, then link out to the business’s Google listing so you can read the original reviews yourself.

How ranking actually works

Rankings come from a published rubric applied to that data, nothing else. There’s no pay-to-rank option and no way for a business to buy a better position. The full scoring criteria are laid out on our methodology page, and every listing shows a “last verified” date so you can see when we last checked it against current data.

A business owner can flag or correct factual details on their own listing (address, phone number, hours, services offered). What they can’t do is edit their own score, sentiment summary, or ranking position. That stays independent of the listed business by design.

Sponsorship, when it appears

Some pages carry sponsored placements. These are always labelled “Sponsored,” shown in a separate section from the earned rankings, and have no effect on where a business lands in the ranked list. If you see both a ranking and a sponsored slot on the same page, they’re answering two different questions: one is earned, one is paid.

Who maintains this and how often

Data is refreshed monthly across all 300 listings. Editorial oversight of the rankings sits with Petra Vogel, Content Lead, who maintains the rubric and reviews how it’s applied.
